Anson Bank & Trust Honors Teacher of the Year
and Outstanding Business

Tuesday, May 8th 2007 - Albemarle, NC - Anson Bank & Trust honored Anson County’s Teacher of the Year Gail Litaker recently at the company’s Annual Meeting of Shareholders. Mrs. Litaker teaches music classes at Wadesboro Primary School.

“Teachers have a special mission of helping mold and encourage our children to be what they can be, to dream big dreams and realize those dreams,” said Kenneth Huntley, Anson Bank & Trust’s Board of Directors’ Chair, who recognized Mrs. Litaker. “Gail Litaker does this and more. As a child, Mrs. Litaker’s parents instilled in her an appreciation for music so it was a natural career path for Gail to study music.

Gail began her teaching career in the fall of 1972 where she was third grade teacher in the town of Lilesville. The first three years of teaching elementary education prepared Gail for the next 26 years of working with thousands of children, hundreds of teachers and many school personnel. Mrs. Litaker began teaching music in 1981 and today some of her students are children of the students she instructed in her first years of teaching. Gail’s community involvement consists of Director of the Anson Show Choir 8th - 12th grade, Director of Thursday’s Child, Adult Hand bell Director, “Joyful Noise” Youth Praise Group for First Methodist and First Presbyterian Churches and various other groups.”

Anson Bank & Trust also recognized B & B Pest Control as its 2007 Outstanding Business. “B & B Pest Control is locally-owned and operated by Bill Boone. He began his business forty seven years ago and offers pest and termite treatment to businesses and homes in Anson and other North and South Carolina Counties.” said Jim Strayhorn, President and Chief Executive Officer of Anson Bank & Trust. Today, B & B Pest Control is making a difference in the community by providing good jobs and by helping to create community wealth right here at home. It is our pleasure to recognize B & B Pest Control as our 2007 Anson County Outstanding Business.”

Anson Bank & Trust presented Mrs. Litaker with a monetary donation and a desk clock frame which featured an original piece of art depicting his area of teaching. Mr. Boone received a grandfather wall clock in appreciation of his business.
