Anson Bank & Trust Honors Teacher of the Year and Outstanding Business

Monday, May 4th 2004 - Wadesboro, NC - Anson Bank & Trust honored Anson County’s Teacher of the Year Mary Ratliffe recently at the company’s Annual Meeting of Shareholders. Ms. Ratliffe teaches allied health science classes at Anson High School.

“Teachers have a special mission of helping mold and encourage our children to dream big and realize those dreams,” said Emmett Patterson, Anson Bank & Trust Board of Directors’ Chair, who recognized Ms. Ratliffe. “Mary Ratliffe does this and more. Her peers say she has the most warming and caring personality and always has a smile to share. Her exemplary allied health program is the result of her exemplary teaching. She instills the importance of learning with her students. It is my distinct honor to recognize Anson County’s Teacher of the Year Mary Ratliffe, recognition she so deserves for the impact she is having on our children and our future.”

Anson Bank & Trust also recognized Allen’s Professional Investigations, Inc. as its 2004 Outstanding Business.

“Allen’s Professional Investigations is locally-owned and operated by Richard Allen. He offers security guard services, private investigating for capital defenders through attorneys, court-appointed murder defenses, and background verifications for local businesses on prospective employees,” said Jim Strayhorn, President and Chief Executive Officer of Anson Bank & Trust. “Richard began his business as a one-man shop in 1986. Today, the business is making a difference in the community by providing good jobs for 65 people, and by helping to create community wealth right here at home. It is our pleasure to recognize Allen’s Professional Investigations, Inc., our 2004 Anson County Outstanding Business.”

Anson Bank & Trust presented each honoree a desk clock frame which featured an original piece of art depicting Ms. Ratliffe’s area of teaching and Mr. Allen’s line of business.
