Our Vision
Years from now we believe our organization
will be regarded as a model for how communities take control
of their economic destiny to create desirable places to live. Uwharrie
Capital Corp aims to provide a common administrative support
base for community banks operating in the southern Piedmont
of North Carolina, principally the area known as the Uwharrie
Lakes Region. Our company is allowing us to meet the needs
of our market, successfully managing the total relationship
of our customers in a highly caring and personal manner. Traditional
transaction, credit, and other financial needs are being met
by our network of Community-Based
Banks. These banks benefit from shared earnings and market
flexibility of our shared technology, Investments, Insurance and Financial
Planning subsidiaries and partnerships.

A shared vision of the counties comprising
the Uwharrie Lakes
Region fosters a plan around the region's emergence as
our state's central playground for the urban population along
Interstate-85. Land use planning created an economy that is
diverse and balanced, affording a standard of living for residents
that leads our national average. Our organization, working
with local leadership, helps to lead the way by providing both
financial and intellectual capital to the effort.
While providing financial services for our
customers, we also help communities direct their futures from
within by giving them control over their local capital resources.
A broad base of ownership of the company is maintained as our
stakeholders come to understand the long-term benefit of participating
in a for-profit, stock-based community financial union.
Uwharrie Capital Corp permits community leaders
to have better insight into the cause and effects of economic
development efforts. An enlightened vision of a desired future
for our descendants has emerged, and the people have both the
knowledge and capital resources to pursue it. A balanced economic
community of environmentally-friendly manufacturers, technology
companies, health care, service companies, recreation and tourism
make up the employment base.
