Vicki Coggins Joins Uwharrie Capital Corp

Albemarle, NC - - Roger Dick, President and Chief Executive Officer of Uwharrie Capital Corp recently announced that Stanly County native, Vicki Coggins, has joined the Company as Special Projects Coordinator. Mr. Dick commented, "In this role, Vicki will coordinate projects pertaining to Uwharrie Capital Corp's commitment to re-energize historic properties and promote economic development in our markets; and Vicki's vast and related experience and knowledge, particularly as it pertains to grant writing and utilization of tax credits, will be a true asset to our company."

Vicki is well-known within the community, having served as the Executive Director for the Albemarle Downtown Development Corporation for over 20 years. She has been instrumental in much of Stanly County's economic development efforts, and community events such as the Albemarle Downtown Christmas, Beach Blast and the Outdoorsman's Bonanza. She attended the University of North Carolina in Greensboro, and Stanly Community College and has received certifications from the University of Georgia - School of Urban Design, the University of North Carolina – Charlotte Urban Institute and the North Carolina Rural Center - Rural Economic Development Institute. She is a 1990 graduate of Leadership Stanly, and has participated in the North Carolina Main Street Training for Downtown Executive Directors since 1993. She is active with the Historic Preservation and National Trust for Historic Preservation and serves on the Preservation North Carolina Board of Advisers.

Vicki is also involved with a variety of civic and career-related boards and organizations, including the Uwharrie Players Board of Directors, Stanly County Arts Council Board of Directors, the North Carolina Association of Festivals and Events Board of Directors, Stanly Concert Association Board of Directors, and presently serves as a board member of the North Carolina Rural Development Institute, Stanly County Chamber of Commerce and NC Cooperative Extension. She is actively involved with the Keep Stanly Beautiful Committee, Albemarle Rotary Club, Pfeiffer University Events Plus Board of Advisers, and Albemarle Downtown Business Association.

Vicki is a lifelong resident of Stanly County, and has a son, Mark, and a daughter, Lisa. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling, history, reading, gardening, community theater and the arts.
