Cabarrus Bank & Trust Honors Teacher of the Year and Outstanding Business

Concord, NC – Cabarrus Bank & Trust honored Cabarrus County's 2009 – 2010 Teacher of the Year Candace Reel recently at the company's Annual Meeting of Shareholders. Mrs. Candace teaches kindergarten through fifth grade children with severe and profound disabilities at Cox Road Elementary School. "Teachers have a special mission of helping mold and encourage our children to be what they can be, to dream big dreams and realize those dreams," said Doug Stafford, Cabarrus Bank & Trust's Board of Directors' Chair, who recognized Mrs. Reel. "Candace attended UNC-Wilmington and graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Special Education with an Emphasis in Mental Retardation. After working at the Cerebral Palsy preschool during college she was inspired to become a teacher. Candace enjoyed working with students and realized she could teach children with various ability levels. She also attributes the fact that her mom has been in educations for 30 years also played a roll in her choosing teaching as her occupation."

Ben Mynatt Family of Dealerships was also honored by Cabarrus Bank and Trust as its 2010 Outstanding Business Honoree. "The story of Ben Mynatt Chevrolet Cadillac is a true American success story" said Pat Horton, President and CEO of Cabarrus Bank & Trust. "Since opening in 1976, the Mynatt Family has built a legacy of service to Cabarrus County, and their loyalty to Chevrolet and General Motors spans over five decades. Over the years, the dealership consistently ranked high among top dealers in North Carolina. Mr. Mynatt was also a prominent member of the business community and served many boards and led various civic groups. Daughter Cyndie Mynatt took a lead role in the business in 1985 and is now the Chief Executive Officer of Ben Mynatt Chevrolet Cadillac – Family Dealership. The dealership is strongly dedicated to Cabarrus County and is making a difference by providing good jobs for local people, and by helping to create community wealth right here at home."

Mrs. Reel was presented a monetary donation and a desk clock frame from Cabarrus Bank & Trust. The clock frame featured an original piece of art depicting Mrs. Reel's area of teaching. Cyndie and Grace Mynatt of Ben Mynatt Family of Dealerships were presented a grandfather wall clock in appreciation of their contribution to the local economy.
